Fire Prevention Day 4

Writer's picture: Eaton Township Fire DepartmentEaton Township Fire Department

Today's information will be focused on smoke alarms and the importance of these in your home.

Today's statistics:

Approximately three of every five deaths that resulted from house fires were in homes with either no smoke alarms (approximately 40%), or in homes where the smoke alarms were not properly working (approximately 17%).

Of the 17% that the smoke alarms were not working, approximately 43% of the smoke alarms were either missing batteries or had been disconnected. 25% of the 17% contained batteries that were dead.

Today's tips:

It is recommended that you change the batteries in all smoke detectors at the same time that you change your clocks. Take a look at the picture below for more tips.

Today's activity:

Go through your house and check all the dates of your smoke detector.
